I was out this morning with my macbook pro (mid 2010) it was in its case the whole time as I didnt need to use it.

When I returned home I got it out of the case, when I opened it it made a rubbing sound, then I noticed that the screen was out of line!!

I have no idea how it happened, Im not sure if its maybe a fault hinge but Im totally confused.

Basically when looking at it top down closed it looks like the whole screen section has been tilted about 4mm off and its making the screen hit the back when I close it.

Has anyone else had a similar problem?

cheers

Careful self-realignment

Hi,

I had this problem about 20 minutes ago, as well. I:

Turned off the computer
Opened the lid about half an inch
gently applied opposing pressure to realign the lid
For example, if it is too far to the left, then put your hand on the left side of the lid, the right side of the base, and gently apply opposing force until it realigns.
Don't break your laptop by doing this. It worked for me, though.
