Macbook Pro Screen Not Shutting Off When Lid Closed

I've got a late 2008 15" unibody macbook pro. For some reason, the screen won't turn off when I close the macbook. The Apple on the back of the computer remains on and I can see that the screen hasn't powered on at all.

Any advice on how to fix this? Thanks!

I did. Everything seems great. Restored to defaults just in case but no dice. Thanks for the suggestion. I'm wondering if there is a different area where a setting might be off.
