Historically:
- Apple laptop with PowerPC = PowerBook
- Apple laptop with Intel chip = MacBook

So Apple should have changed the name from Macbook to something else when they ditch Intel, as the name “Macbook” was linked to Intel.

Too much confusions with a name change. I think Apple did the right thing so not to confuse users.

I believe this generation of MacBooks will be remembered by the upcoming redesign - looking forward to that!

Apple with Apple - MacBook
Apple with Intel - SillyBook

I disagree. The only reason why they changed the name from PowerBook to MacBook was 1) to get “power” out of the name and 2) to get “Mac” in the name.

The name doesn’t allude to Intel at all (it’s not intelbook), it alludes to it being a Macintosh. Also at this point it has major brand recognition since ‘MacBook’ is their most popular Mac product they sell.
