Hi,

I am having a rather strange problem. When there is no external display connected everything behaves fine. However, when I have an external display connected to my macbook pro (2007) and I am running it in clamshell mode, if I unplug the magsafe power it instantly turns off. It doesn't shut down, it just dies as if it didn't switch to battery power correctly. Any idea what is causing this?

My magsafe connector is a bit dodgy and intermittently looses connection every now and then. Consequently my macbook keeps randomly shutting down whenever this happens. Very annoying.

Any advice would be great, thanks

Andrew

It should go to sleep in that circumstance (no external power, clamshell, external display). Are you sure this isn't the case?

No, it should go to sleep but instead it instantly dies. I'm guessing since it is fine when not in clamshell that this isn't a hardware issue. I've tried resetting pram and smc. Any other thoughts?

Thanks

Actually I just realised it is whenever it goes to sleep in clamshell mode that it shuts down. Even if I just choose to put it to sleep. Any idea?
