Hello everyone!
Here's my story. A few weeks ago I found a 17" Macbook Pro (A1229) on the street. I have no idea why, but it was in a bin at a bus stop. I brought it home, bought an adapter, and it's working! The battery is missing tho.
But here comes the problem. There was a clean install of Leopard on it, but somehow all the applications were missing. So it was totally useless. And the most important thing is the sound and the wifi seemed to be ok.
I wanted to do a clean install myself. I managed to install Xp, Win 7, Snow Leopard, but none of the OSes find any sound or wifi device. The left light sensor and usb ports are also dead. Everything else works fine.
So should I buy a new left DC I/O board? I would say it's obvious that's the problem, but how the hell did the sound and wifi worked, before I formatted the hdd?
I don't wanna take it to a service, coz they would charge me hundreds. I would change it myself, I can do things like that, I'm also an electrician.
What do you guys suggest?
