I have this thing where the speakers on my MacBook Pro will sometimes click when they play a sound. It's never during a song or video, it's always when there has been some time since a sound went off and its like they're turning back on. The click is only before a sound happens and never during; always before. Like I said, they only do it when it's been a while since a last sound so its like they turn off and then turn back on.

I just got a unibody 17" and it does the same thing. I had the same thoughts, that it must turn the amp off to save battery, as if you play a few sounds close to each other it doesnt happen.

I know this problem in the older MBPs was caused by poor quality audio hardware, which caused popping, crackling, and the pop when it switched the circuitry back on.
