Im thinking about buying a macbook pro, but i was wondering if and when Apple will be making any significant updates this spring, considering that Sandy Bridge was recently announced. If so, what changes will likely be included in the update? Also, will the MBP 13'' lose the core 2 duo?

In the past, I have bought a MBP right before a new model came out, and i dont want this to happen again.

What apple conferences this spring will likely include information on the macbook pros?

thanks

Just wait. and in the mean time, read all the posts on this forum, there's a ton. And no one knows anything. But it's generally agreed on that it'll be April at the latest, if not a bit sooner. But even that is nowhere near concrete.

It's also generally thought that the 13" will move to Sandy Bridge, as the onboard graphics chip is better than Intel's old one. But again, that's not based on any fact, just logical thinking based on what we know about Sandy Bridge itself.

you won't see an official announcement from apple regarding their update until the update is done. if they announce new computers coming soon, why would someone buy the current models? that's why you have to check www.apple.com to see if the new models are out. Or you can hope for a leak or rumors...
Sure thing is: DON'T buy now, the new macbooks will be here in MAX 2 months.

I agree, 2months time at most. Also, I realized a trend this month. The past two tuesdays had Apple related events/info. Regarding new products and their Tues/ Wed release days in recent years, I say if we hear or see nothing new tomorrow or wed, than January is out of the question. Thus then I would say nothing until after the iphone 4 on Verizon launch, likely mid feb-early march.

I find it difficult to believe that Apple would wait over a year (late April) to do a refresh of their MBP line. I'm thinking mid-March, but it's total spec by me and everyone else.

I also find it difficult to believe that people keep starting these threads when so many exist!

there will be no new mbp. and forget about this sandy bridge, there is no bridge, sandy or otherwise. the mbp is an end of life product, it is being discontinued. it will be replaced with new 15" and 17" macbook air models, with core 2 duo processor and 2 gb of non-upgradable memory. thin is in!!!

Just think once the 2011s are out the next thread will probably say when will Apple refresh the 2011 MBP or what will the 2012 mac books have and should I wait until the 2013s come out before buying.

Lol.

Not difficult to believe people as they know people like you will respond to his questions lol.

i recommend starting a new thread. it's better to have your own 2011 mbp predictions thread than to jump willy-nilly into someone elses.

There are already many threads on it already, although it would be nice to be able to create a new thread in February to discuss the more possible things we will see, assuming the are not updated in Feb. I was only "speaking aloud" in response to the person above me, who wished the same thing.

I should have made it more clear.

in that case, each of you should begin a new thread about 2011 mbp. i will begin one also. are you ready? go!

Once the 2011 MBP is out, which will be the Early 2010 model. We can start asking when the Late 2011 model will be out, and if they'll have the Quads we never got in the Early 2011 update.

Don't expect a refresh before march April. I found out that sandy bridge is coming to laptopa here late feburary.

And usually apple isn't the first to jump To new tech.

Jobbs took a leave of absence right? Does he usually present all the new products?
