In May, I installed an Intel SSD into my 13-inch MacBook Pro and I turned it on today and there was an error with my boot up, showing a cross on my boot up screen. I checked all the internals to make sure nothing was damaged and I found nothing. I'm assuming my SSD has crashed.
I have my old hard drive from before, but I used that for time machine. Is there any way I can use that old hard drive as my new one? Can the time machine data stay on the hard drive? Any help would be much appreciated!!

I don't think so. You'll have to get a new SSD or HDD and restore from the Time Machine drive to get your stuff back.
