I have a late 2008 Macbook Pro with a Vertex 3 120GB SSD. The system was set-up fine as a fusion drive. About 4 months of using the SSD, I replaced the regular spinning drive due to SMART status issues. Thus reformatting the SSD...

After the reinstall, the system would freeze every once in a while. So wrote a ticket to RMA the drive due to these issues. BUT all of a suden everything started to get better with less and less freeze-ups.

I take it SSDs do not like being reformatted and the garbage collector finally sorted it's issues out? I just can't figure out what's going with on this SSD!

The OCZ Vertex 2 and Vertex 3 are known to be unreliable, so please backup your drive in case of sudden death of your drive.
