Currently away on Hoilday to the USA. Going to buy a MBP when I get back home to the UK as I will qualify for HE Discount by then as my Open University course starts. Most lightly I will buy the 15-inch: 2.0 GHz with Hi Res Glossy Screen.

I am looking to upgrade both the hard drive to SSD and boost the RAM to 8GB but not wishing the pay Apples price.
I am confident I can replace both the hard drive and memory in the MBP.
However I am uncertain in what order to do things when the new MBP arrives. Should I even bother switching the MBP on and going through the initial OS launch or just install the SSD and memory straight away. Will I be able to just boot from the Backup Discs?? And install a fresh OS on the new SSD?
Also while I am in the US some ppl said it might be cheaper for me to seek out the SSD and memory here and bring it back to the UK or am I best just ordering from a UK site at home.

Either way can anyone recommend a good SSD drive of at least 250GB capacity and decent memory.
