So i have a late 2010 macbook pro running os x 10.6.8. Recently everytime i push the power button to turn it on it starts up i hear the chime and then it immediately shuts down. I press the power button again and it starts and shuts down before the chime, i try multiple times but it keeps ending with the same result. The only way i can get it to turn on and stay on is if i hold the power button down for a few seconds and then let go, then it will start all the way. Please help, thanks.

are you within warranty? if so I would have it sent in for repair.
this symptom could be nothing and never affect you, but it could also be the first indicators of your logic board failing.
does the machine reboot when you select reboot, or does it just shut down?
