My 13 inch Macbook Pro was left out in the rain for about 5 minutes. It was closed and when I went to wipe it off, there was no wetness on the keyboard or the screen, just the outer shell. It was on sleep when it was rained on, and when I opened it, it turned back on like normal and so far is working just fine.

Did I luck out or could something happen later?

Since it was closed, and you dried it off completely before opening it up, you're probably fine.
