Macbook pro storage help

Hi

I have a macbook pro, mid 2014 model, running Yosemite

I am after some help with some storage issues I am having.

When I go into storage I have
121GB of storage

39.87GB of apps
25.34GB of audio
14.38GB of other
1.2GB of movies

Could somebody tell me how I find out what the 39.87GB of apps is? I only have a few apps on my macbook which I have downloaded, so how can I tell where this 39.87GB is going?

Also what is other storage?
