MacBook Pro stuck on blue screen on start up (heat issue?)

It's a thing that has happened 3 times in the last few days.
When I restart my MacBook Pro (Early 2011) it stayed stuck on that blueish screen forever.

Then I have to force it to shut down (long press on the power button), wait a few minutes and then it starts just fine.

I've noticed that in all 3 cases the MacBook was pretty hot.
Is that the reason for not starting up? Maybe it need to cool down a bit?
