Hey everyone

I got the 2008 MacBook pro with lion installed on it. The laptop was working fine and all of a sudden it decides not to boot up. It's stuck on the apple logo with the wheel spinning constantly.

I've put in my snow leopard upgrade cd in and pressed c on boot up but nothing happens. I cant even eject the cd....

Any solutions? Thanks

Thanks

If I hold option key whilst booting up it does show meme
The boot options but if I click on the cd it just gets stuck again

How about Cmd-R when you boot to boot into the Lion Restore partition?
Then you can run Disk Utility > Repair to see if you have a disk issue...

I Did repair permissions and verify disk it did show was corrupt so I did repair disk which it did successfully but it's still stick at that boot screen? Pls if anyone can help would appreciate it

Update

I reinstalled osx

Boots up but it is so slow and I mean very slow

Also that laptop is really hot!?

It will get hot installing OS X. Make sure you run all the updates (you may have to reboot and do this several times to get everything updated). Hopefully once everything is updated the speed will pick up. Your best solution for speed in any case is installing an SSD, which I firmly believe is the best upgrade you can put in your Mac. Hard Drives are slow and prone to failure.

thanks

after installing osx

it takes like a very very long time to boot up when restarting it

when booting it gets stuck on a blue screen for at least 5-10mins

this is after doing a fresh install

My MBP was stuck on the Apple logo screen a month ago and it turned out that the hard drive failed.

If you're able to boot, run some hard drive tests to check for bad blocks etc. or take it to the genius bar and they can diagnose the problem.

Thank you

I have one last question

I broke my laptop display and got it replace last week since then my machine has over heated big could this have caused my hard drive to fail if it has?

Because I'd like apple to take the blame
Because my machine was fine before I gave it to them:rolleyes:

MBP will not boot holding C

I want to wipe and re-install my OS but cannot get my MBP to boot holding C. It sticks loading. Please help.
