hello everyone,
While I had my MacBook open, I was writing in my notebook.
I look up at the screen and see verticals multi-colored lines.

Specs:
15" MacBook Pro 2010
El Capitan (or w/e the latest OS is)

*standard NON-super high res screen. (The term escapes me at the moment)

I've restarted, help option, command R, all that but nothing seems to rid the problem.

I thinks it's purely the screen or graphics card because I can still adjust the brightness, I get the new email chime sound, and the startup chime is present.

Just no response what I move the mouse or press any buttons.

When I restart the MBP, the white screen SLOWLY appears. It's not instant like how it's supposed to be.
I have no apple logo.

Just from black screen, start up, gradual white, then then Multi color lines form. I think those lines may be from my screen saver? Which is just the basic animals and landscapes pre selected.

Any input or help/tips on what to do much appreciated!

Sounds like your GPU has gone. It's an expensive fix (logic board) and I doubt apple will still work on a 2010 as they probably no longer keep the parts. There may be some home fixes you can do (baking the board and similar) that may get you a few extra months but the usually go again fairly quickly.
