My Macbook pro has been acting up today and yesterday. I put in a CD [something which I haven't done in a while] and it started making this awful grinding noise and spat the disk out. I have tried multiple disks/DVDs and the same thing keeps happening. I've also tried the disks on a friends windows laptop and they work fine.

Anyone have any ideas?

I have uploaded a video with the problem: http://www.searchpembrokeshire.co.uk/mbp.mov

Maybe you disk is bad? The noise is the drive pulling the disc (that's how slot loading mechanisms work).

The disk isn't bad as it works on my friends computer and it does this with every disk i try
