Macbook Pro sure runs slow on battery

Just doing my normal multitasking on my 17" it runs fast while with the magsafe plugged in but on battery its pretty slow.

But then I am transferring a 100gb+ file while using 6 spaces with many apps running.

ha i wonder why?.....its because it underclocks the cpu to sav power just lik any other laptop

Thats what I figured. I just unplugged the magsafe just to drain my battery for the first time and while running 6 spaces with transferring 100gb+ files and running many apps, actually running on battery power I consider it pretty darn fast.

I presume it doesn't underclock it much? Such as 200Mhz? (Glad I bought a 2.66 then :O. )
