I know this has probably been asked a million times, but I can't find it in the search, so I'll ask again.

I have a new Macbook Pro. I am trying to connect it to my TV so that I can watch movies that are on my computer.

My TV has connections for DVI & VGA.

The extensions that I am currently working with -
Kanex Mini-DP to HDMI 10ft Cable
HDMI to DVI adaptor

I connected the HDMI side of the cable to the adaptor.
Plugged the DVI side of the adaptor into the computer.
Plugged the Mini-DP side into the computer.
Turned the TV on and set the source to "DVI"
Turned the computer on.

And all I get is a distorted gray and black screen..... :(

HELP!

My best guess is that it is set at a resolution that is improper for the monitor
