macbook pro to HDTV

i bought a mini DVI to HDMI then hooked it up to my tv with an HDMI cord and on the first TV i tried, in the sound output options i could select the audio to go through my tv but on my other tv, the audio for TV isnt showing in the audio output options. any help?

the usb part isnt part of my adapter and it still played the audio on my first tv though and now its not on a different HDTV, problems with that?
