Macbook Pro to TV connection?????

Lately I have been thinking about how nice it would be to hook up my computer to my TV. Since then I have done some research and have hit a dead end. Can anyone tell me what I need to do to make this work??? Keep in mind I have a Macbook Pro.

Mini Display to HDMI adapter and an HDMI cord. You can get both for about 10 bucks on eBay. Don't get Apple's adapter or an HDMI cord from any store ever. For 49 bucks, it's one of the most marked up items on Best Buy's shelves.
