Hello everyone,

I'm the proud owner of a new unibody MacBook Pro and so far I'm loving it. There is, however, one problem. I would really like to connect the MBP to my HD TV, which happens to be a Sony FD Trinitron WEGA. At first I bought the Apple mini-DisplayPort to DVI and DVI to Video cables. Turns out the mini-DisplayPort to DVI was DVI-D and the DVI to Video was DVI-I.

I returned it and bought the mini-DisplayPort to VGA and a VGA to Components cable. When I finally got the Mac to recognize the TV, I got the garbled image with horizontal purple lines you see below. I tried every resolution from 800x600 to 1280x1024 with various refresh rates, but nothing helped. Does anyone have any idea why that might be happening? Thank you in advance.
