Anyone have any luck picking up a MacBook Pro Touch Bar in a Best Buy or any other third party retailer? Wondering when the stores will have them in stock for sale this week.

My local Best Buy had one in stock. Unfortunately, right when I was going to buy it an error popped up saying that it was not able to be sold yet. I guess they have their street date set as the 16th.

Really sucks. But at least it's on hold for me to get tomorrow.

What causes the delay in shipment and display units? The rmbp was ready for shipment from Day 1, and this piece of crap (which took 18 months to design and build) couldn't even reach Apple store after 3 weeks of announcement?! Whats wrong with Apple man... Please enlight me.

Ricky. You are 27 years old.

It is important that you learn to be patient.

There are many Apple Stores around the globe, and I appreciate the fact that they ship most of their available machines to customers first instead of let them sit inside the store.

I'd want people to try the device first. Apple is being stingy again nad there is no reason to be.

If you want to try it first, you have time to wait (you don't need it or desperately want it, you just want to try it). For people who are certain that's what they want, Apple is very kind to them by shipping them most of their available machines first.

Just a little perk being a die hard apple fan I guess? Because these people are willing to throw in a few grands after watching the keynote and without touching the actual machine.

For what it's worth, I walked in and picked a 15" base model in space gray tonight at one of the Apple Stores here in Pittsburgh.

The employees told me they just got their shipment this afternoon along with their window display kits. They're setting up window and table displays overnight tonight for an official launch tomorrow.

They currently have several configs of both the 13 and 15 in inventory although they said supplies of the 15 were rather limited.

If it's happening in Pittsburgh, it's likely happening everywhere else with an Apple Store at the same time.

Looks like anybody who wants to try before they buy will get their chance starting tomorrow. Good luck everyone!

Curious, which Pittsburgh store? And did they go into detail as to which 15 inch configs? Curious if any have the upgraded GPU...

Ross Park. They didn't go into detail. The ones I know for sure are as follows:
13" With Function Keys - Base (MacBook Escape)
13" Touch Bar Base
13" Touch Bar/i7/16gb/512

15" Base

Looked like they had both Silver and Space Grey options. I think they mentioned having one of the pricier 15" configs, but I didn't ask for specifics. Base is enough for my needs.

Hope this helps!

Century City Apple Store...lots of 13 (pretty much all configs / colors), no 15.

Interestingly enough they had BTO-configs, and just so happened to have the one I ordered (with a Dec ship date).

Walked out with a 13''/i7/16gb/512 ... very happy I don't have to wait til Christmas!

I was able to walk in to my store here in Miami (Lincoln Road) and walk out with a 13 256GB Space Gray. From what the Specialist showed me on his EasyPay, they seemed to have most of the 13" TB configs in stock. Would def call before (though from what its worth, first phone rep told me tomorrow, second rep told me to come in, that they had, so your mileage may vary.)

Sounds like most of the Apple stores that don't have them in yet, will be getting them by Thursday or Friday. 3 Best Buy locations in my area have them but they were unable to sell them until the 16th.

I can't even explain to you the level of frustration of being right there at the checkout with a 13" TB model tucked away in its box just a couple feet in front of me and being told that I will have to come back tomorrow in order to get it. Really?!! Who the H*** at Best Buy headquarters chose the 16th as launch day!!? If Apple is selling them, why can't everyone else?

On the bright side, I was able to get the last TB3 -to- HDMI/USB-A/USB-C dongle, so I'm 110% ready for the new Mac.

Which Best Buy you go to in NY they have stock and are saying the 21st is release date

This has been discussed in one of the order status threads but in case helpful for anyone looking here, the UES store in NYC has them; stock configs plus some with BTO type options in terms of processors, RAM etc.
