Purchased a new 15 inch 2.7 16gb back in December and I've had only problems with this computer. I've had Macs since 1986 and never had problem but this computer has been anything but. From day one it crashed unexpectedly, would give me the spinning beachball upon waking from sleep to the point where I had to restart and then finally a couple of months ago, it gave out and just died. It wouldn't turn on or respond to any keys. I lost all my info on the internal drive and what I was working on.
When I called AppleCare the gentleman I spoke to said he's never heard of a new computer just going dark like that. He had me bring it and the motherboard was replaced along with two I/O boards and some cables.
When I picked it up I noticed that the two USB-C ports on the left side are not working properly. Basically they either don't respond or if I can attach a drive or monitor then the connection is very weak... meaning anything that barely touches the cable will disconnect the unit. So its basically impossible to use with external drives and monitors.
So after talking to AppleCare open the phone last night they said the earliest they can get me in to check the unit is Friday of next week (even though the repair they did was poorly done.) Then I'll probably have to send it out again for a new Logic Board install.
So basically from day one I'm probably going to be on my third logic board as of next week. I asked the AppleCare specialist if they can just give me a new computer or refurb because this one obviously has had issues from the very beginning. They reufused (even though they understood my frustration) and said they get three times to fix computer before a new one is issued (even if its basically brand new.) As a photographer I need my laptop with me for shoots and now that I've had to change everything to USB-C its impossible to use my drives and monitor on older computers.
I feel very frustrated. Has anyone else had any logic board problems? I've never had any issues with the dozens of Apple products I've had since the 80's and I take excellent care of my stuff. This MacBook Pro has been just been one problem after another
