So I transitioned from a 2017 13 inch MBP non-TB to a 2017 13 inch touchbar and I don’t know if this is normal for the batteries. I closed my laptop and let it sleep for an hour and the battery went down 10%? Is that normal? On the non-TB the battery went down 1-2%. Does the TB really drain that much battery?

Bring it to the Genius Bar for diagnostics. Something could be running in the background or your machine may not actually be going to sleep properly.

Check your preferences for power and sleep settings, are you running automatic updates? Did one occur during that time? Have you checked activity monitor to see if any rogue processes are still running, have you recently transferred a lot of data or have you transferred from a time machine back up to new machine? Is it still spotlight indexing?

If you have recently started using this Mac and have transferred all your stuff to it then leave it a couple of days before worrying about the battery they take a while and a couple of cycles to settle down not to mention spotlight indexing and processes that maybe running in the background at the moment.

I did recently get the computer about a week ago and I did transfer everything over from Time Machine. Should I just let it rest for a couple more cycles? I’m currently at 7 cycles

A week should be well long enough, have you been into the activity monitor to see if any processes are using excessive energy there? and may be running when meant to be asleep.

To be honest, I’m not sure what you’re exactly looking for in Activity Monitor lol

I just opened it when I restarted my computer and this shows up.

I transitioned to the same laptop too from a non touch bar, I like the touch bar for my coding purposes but I regret the transition due to battery life, I used to get about 12 hours with the non touch bar, now with the Touch Bar I get 9 hours and I have to disable turbo boost, I still have 40 days to return it, I'll see if I'll exchange for a 15'

Do you any power sucking devices attached to the USB ports?

I'm typing from the 2017 13' TouchBar and at 9 clicks brightness, auto-brightness disabled keyboard backlight at one click, Apps that are open are Safari, Mail, Mailplane, Tweetbot and Activity Monitor plus dropbox, magnet and 1 password.

I have 7 hours 17 minutes left and I've been using the laptop on battery for 3 hours 52 minutes, so far it looks promising and I'll be a happy camper if I get 10 hours.

I do have Turbo Boost Switcher and that is already giving me an extra hour, I strongly recommend the app, I purchase the pro version to have automatic switching when on power.
