So I'm sitting in philosophy right now bored, so i figure I'll do this now. I use my MBP all day and bring it from class to class. I just close the lid when a class is over and let it sleep till the next. However sometimes (much of the time) when I wake it back up the trackpad seems to malfunction. The center seems to have no response so I use the edges to tap and click and move, and multitouch is iffy at best. It takes a restart to get it fully working again. Why?

Try running software update, worked for me when mine went a bit iffy.
The fact that it works ok after a reset suggests software rather than a faulty pad.

Yes I have Magic Prefs.... but that is just for my Magic Mouse that I don't bring // use in class with me.
