Macbook Pro -> TV

I have been looking around on the internet and have found tons of cables... What ways do you connect your MBP to a TV to play .avi's etc?

Mini DVI to something I guess.

Do you recommend buying 3rd party or from apple?

i just recently did this and i used one of those minidisplayport>dvi adapters and then bought a dvi>hdmi cable to hook my mbp to my lcd tv

I also bought the Mini display to dvi adapter and a dvi to hdmi cable.

I'm looking to connect my MBP's mini displayport to HDMI. How is the quality? Is it as "High Def" as you thought?

Is there no way of getting a single cable to do this? Unless there's a significant reason to have a DVI output, I'd want to go straight to HDMI.

Since there is no mini-DP to HDMI adapter yet you have to use the mini-DP to DVI with a DVI->HDMI cable. It doesn't matter anyway because the HDMI video signal is the same as DVI anyway.
