Hi all,

I just recently got a MacBook Pro 16" and I've been noticing that when I closed the lid and let it sleep overnight and open it the next day it'll sometimes say that it unexpectedly restarted. Anyone else having this issue? I read on Reddit that if you turn off put hard drive to sleep it shouldn't happen, but I want to see if I'm not the only one having this issue.

.... Anyone else having this issue?

Oh ya.... been going on for a couple years now. See this thread.
Is your laptop connected to an external device (eg. a monitor, disk drive, dock, or port expander) when it goes to sleep? Have you tried disconnecting from external devices before sleeping it?

Edit: To see if your system is experiencing a Bridge OS crash due to a kernel panic, as described in that thread, look for panics in /Library/Logs/DiagnosticReports/ProxiedDevice-Bridge. Open a terminal window and do;
Code:
sudo ls /Library/Logs/DiagnosticReports/ProxiedDevice-Bridge/panic*

Thanks for this. I don't have anything plugged in except the charger, which is weird. I checked for that file and it doesn't look like it's there. Since I turned off put hard drives to sleep it seems to have stopped.

Mine was doing that and I found it was due to having the "Day One" app opened. Closing the app at the end of the day resolved the issue. Then, last week, there was an update for the app and my MBP no longer "unexpectedly" shuts down.
