My recent purchase of a 2007 macbook pro had a few hiccups.

First it had a rattle, which was loose screw inside machine.
Has some screws missing from base but ordered a set of replacements.

optical drive knackered.

It would not upgrade to el capitan via usb (worked on my 2009 macbook)
Not would it upgrade via app store, tried both methods twice.

Any way the only way was to use the timemachine back up from my 2009 macbook.
Took 4 hours but done.

Had to remove a few apps as paid for them and they will not work without paying again.

Think I saved the log but the timemachine after so be gone now.
I did not understand the log anyway.

Is this a sign the HDD failing?
or just bad software.

Going to add SSD in time anyway and max ram to 6GB.

I actually like the machine quite a lot.
The big screen is nice to work on, but might need new hinges as screen seems pretty loose but will stay in place when open.
