Hello ,
I have an old macbook pro a1260 (I have already changed the logic board twice)
if I have not misunderstood on all mac laptops or better to say the majority there are heating problems on the video card which inexorably leads to the chip breaking within a few years if used continuously enough.

I notice that both a heat sink and a fan are missing from the video chip and processor chip
now I was wondering if I make two holes with a cup cutter in correspondence of the two fans and I try to make a hole in correspondence of the video card chip is there a possibility to reduce the temperature a little?
I think that a fin to the video chip making the hole can fit but I don't think a fan
there is someone who knows of particular modding in this regard

thank you

It's my understanding that there could be minute breaks on the contact points which cause the problem.

Cooling the chip may help alleviate the problem but will no fix the fractures in the contact points.

so is there no way to put a definitive resolution for this problem?

You would need the proper heat gun, flux, and solder as a minimum.

I had a late 2011 15" with the bad Radeon GPU. I paid a local shop to replace the GPU with a newer revision which solved the problem. It's been fine for the past 3 years.

so the video chip could still be valid? but in your opinion there is no possibility to put a socket through the shop, so to speak the one used in the processors in such a way that there is more resistance

Do you mean the video chip may still be good? Yes, it's possible.

Personally, I would not spend too much time trying to fix it because it lacks a lot of features I want in a modern MacBook.
