I'm wanting to purchase a brand new Macbook Pro 15" from my friend, one which he got it from his insurance claims. Its brand new and not opened.

I entered the serial number online to check the warranty status but it returns as invalid, I'm assuming this is because I havnt opened the registered the Macbook yet? If this is the case how do I find out the purchase date of the Macbook so I get an rough idea of when the warranty will expire?

thanks!

it should show either in warrenty or expired.

u may have put in the serial number wrong, try again

The MacBook needs to be activated and registered before it shows up on the warranty site.

If it is new and sealed in the box then it should be okay.

Don't worry, I met the same question before.

You need to connect the new MBP to the internet to activate it. Then you will see warranty information on Apple.com
