I am a new Macbook owner and have been having problems with my wifi connection. I have no problems when I am near my router but when I get a little further away I can not get a connection. I thought it was simply distance that was causing this but a friend had his laptop (a lower end dell) at my house and was getting a great connection in areas that my macbook could not connect at all. Has anyone had this problem and if so is there any way to boost my connection or fix this? I am open to any suggestions, but moving my router is not an option. :apple:

Thanks, David

Are you using 5ghz on your macbook?

5ghz doesn't go through obstacles very well at all. I don't think most of the dell gear supports 5ghz, so he will likely be using 2.4ghz (I am assuming you have a dual band wifi access point like an airport extreme here).

5ghz gives great speed, but only at very close range.

As throAU said. What router do you have? Have the router broadcast only one channel then let the MB decide whether to connect to the 5GHz or 2.4GHz connection.
