I'm trying to do my third form of backup for the week which is burning essential data to DVDs. Well, I just recently ran low on my normal GQ branded DVDs and they were out of stock at Frys so I picked up some HP branded DVDs instead figuring that they would be good quality. And now when I put the DVD into the SuperDrive is tries to read it for about a minute and then ejects it.

I've tried 4 different DVDs so far and they all yield the same result from my MacBook Pro. I just burnt my last 2 GQ branded disks before this and they burnt perfectly and did not have this problem. Why won't it burn the disks?

Some brands of burners are simply unhappy with some brands of optical media. I've had problems with a few batches of smartbuy CDs on my white macbook, not much you can do about it short of getting new media.
