Hello all,
I've a slight problem that I can't get my head around. I've a MacBook Pro from around 2009 with these specs;
2.8GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
4GB 1067 MHz DDR3
nVidea GeForce 9600M GT 512MB
Mac OS X Lion 10.7.4
My CD/ DVD drive is a Matshita DVD-R UJ-868 with these specs;
Firmware Revision: KB19
Interconnect: ATAPI
Burn Support: Yes (Apple Shipping Drive)
Cache: 2048 KB
Reads DVD: Yes
CD-Write: -R, -RW
DVD-Write: -R, -R DL, -RW, +R, +R DL, +RW
Write Strategies: CD-TAO, CD-SAO, DVD-DAO
Media; (With a DVD-R inserted at 4.7GB with a speed of 16x)
Type: DVD-R
ID: CMC MAG. AM3
Blank: No
Erasable: No
Overwritable: No
Appendable: Yes
Write Speeds: 2x, 4x, 8x
My problem is I never had a problem, then suddenly for some unknown reason that I can't grasp, my drive just stopped burning DVDs, of any kind, regardless of the disc brand or size.
I can burn CDs fine through Disk Utility and iTunes, and my drive reads and runs DVD movies.
When inserted a blank DVD it takes a short while for the drive to actually recognise a disc is inserted, and if it doesn't, then it can take up to 5 minutes and then finally ejects.
With discs that are recognised I try to burn and it begins, then half way through or a minute after I've clicked burn it tells me the disc is incompatible and that I should try again on a slower speed.
So I try again, with a slower speed, and nothing, regardless of the discs used.
The thing is I have a Windows 7 Service Pack 1 64-bit .ISO nicely given to me by my University.
I want to install Bootcamp basically but it either stops half way through or just after I click burn.
This problem happens in Disk Utility and also in the program Burn.
It is very frustrating having every DVD I've tried, whether it be DVD-R, DVD-RW, made by Maxell or others not working; and I've tried a lot of discs.
I've tried a system update but nothing comes up and I've tried searching online for this problem, but nothing I've found.
Can anyone here suggest, point or know what is going on?
Is my drive faulty, in need of a replacement?
Any help would be very much appreciated, thank you.
