Hi MacRumors,

need to return my MacBook Pro and wanted to do a total clean of my HDD before returning it. I have a problem though, because I can't boot from the Mac OS X Install DVD.

This really bugs me, as I should have been down there today - today is the 13th day I have it, I'm not sure if it's too late tomorrow, it would be the 14th day I had it and I'm not sure if Apple return politics is within the 14th day or I got that day too..

When I try to boot from my Mac OS X Install DVD, nothing happens. I restart the computer, hold down the option button, choose the Install DVD and all I see is the Apple logo. I waited for 10 minutes and nothing came up. I tried to reboot many times, but with no luck.

Is there anything I can try to do, maybe reset the SuperDrive somehow? Thanks

well...

if you have an external enclosure that you could temporarily put it in, you could connect the HDD to another computer via USB, then format the drive. Then reinstall it and try booting to the disc again.
