Hey Guys, my daughters Laptop wont boot up, Power up, gets the Apple Logo Grey screen, and black spinning wheel. I tried going into SAFE mode and Holding SHIFT key down, wont go into SAFE MODE either.. Hold opt key and there is NO REC partition just Macintosh HD .. Question is, I think its running SL OSX, can I install OSX back on and not loose her FILES? Is there ANY way to get her pics and music off to an EXT HD or just install OSX over the bad one and all should be OK nothing lost? Thanks guys!

If it's a 15"/17" from 2010 or 2011, it means a GPU failure has occurred.

You can stick the HDD into an enclosure and grab everything from the drive.
