So heres the situation,
I have had my Macbook Pro for 1.5 years as of right now and I have rarely had a problem with it (the flickering screen which I can handle). But today I encountered a problem. This morning I used it and it worked fine, so I put it into sleep mode by closing the lid. I came home this afternoon only to find that my iPod shuffle was sitting on the table (it had been missing for a few days) Seeing the battery was dead, I plugged it into my USB port on the Macbook pro and opened the lid only to find a black screen. The Pro wasn't waking up.
So I had to do a hard shutdown and boot up again. I hear the jingle and get a white screen, but it doesn't boot. I now have suspicion that the shuffle may have gone through the wash and someone put it on the table for me to find. (I don't know as of yet.) At first I thought my hard disk died, but I inserted the OS X Snow Leopard CD and when it asks me to install it sees my disk and it has the exact ammount of memory i have left (97 out of 160). The Snow Leopard install will go through if I let it, but if I have an OS installed on it why won't it boot.
So heres the checklist of what I don't think I have accidentally killed. My question is what could it be?
Hard Disk - considering the computer sees it
Power supply - the computer charges and turns on normally outside not booting.
Logic board? - It shouldn't be this right if its able to install OS X on my disk (though I'm not sure even if I installed it over everything it would boot)
I am going to take it to the UW DOIT center on Tuesday, but I'd like to try to figure how much this is going to cost me. Thanks for your help
