MacBook Pro won't recognize external mic

Hello,

I just purchased a Blue Yeti microphone for voiceover purposes on Final Cut Pro X because the built-in mic just wasn't cutting it. The Yeti is an USB mic, and whenever I plug it in to my MacBook it won't be recognized.

I looked in the System Preferences / Sound, and the mic won't show up on the input or output section. It won't show on FCPX either.

Please help!
