I've had this problem a few times over the life of my MBP but it has usually always been resolved with a simple SMC or PRAM reset. I've tried both of these again several times but to no avail.
Basically, my Macbook Pro won't sleep when connected to external peripherals like an external display. I have used it in a HengeDock for years and the problem has only recently arisen. I can't think of any significant external peripheral changes that would have caused it to stop sleeping recently. If I remove it from the dock and open/close the lid, it sleeps as normal, however if I try to sleep it with remote or the standard keyboard/mouse shortcuts whilst it's in the dock it won't sleep. All that will happen is that the fan will spin up to its maximum speed and then stay like that until I remove the macbook from its dock, allow it to work out where it is and open/close the lid as previously mentioned.
Any ideas why this might be happening? As I say, no other external peripherals have changed that could be keeping it from sleeping (as far as I can tell...)
