I am running Leopard and updated iTunes about 4 weeks ago and iTunes wouldn't play. Put a new update for iTunes 2 wks ago now the lap top won't start. Just get the grey screen and apple logo.
Can i restore the laptop using my instal discs and still keep my files? It is my sons machine and he hasn't backed up anything.
Can anyone help?:)

You can try booting in safe mode or if you have another MBP start it in target disk mode and retrieve stuff before wiping it and reinstalling.

thanks for that but excuse my ignorance (I am a recent convert from windows to mac) but how do you start in safe mode?. I have both the original instalation discs, will I need to use them?

thanks for your patience and help:)
