Macbook pro won't start, Hard drive spins for 5 seconds then cuts off.

I am trying to repair a macbook pro for a friend, I think it's the logic board, but I wanted to check with you all before I go buy one. When the battery is fully charged, I press the power button, I hear the hard drive spin for about 5 seconds then stop. The superdrive on it is broken so I can't try the restore disk. I ordered Pram, I am going to replace that. I tried two different hard drives and I know they are both good, I tried them in the macbook and through a usb port, and the same thing happened both times. Thanks for your help!
