Hi

I have a macbook and it a 2007 version. When I turned on the power, it gives me a grey screen and question mark.

Anyone has the same problem and how you solve it?

Thanks in advance.

You can try reseting the PRAM by pressing command+option+p+r on boot.

Did you install anythnig recently?
Did anything noteable happen?

I have not install anything and do not use it online as well. I cannot find a command key on the keyboard. Please advise.

Try running a hardware test, insert the first restore DVD and hold D while it starts.

It sounds like your HD has failed.

The command key should be the key directly next to the spacebar, it may have an apple logo on it, see this picture.

The option key is sometimes also labeled as "alt". This key is the one directly next to the command key.

Thank you. I just tried, screen is still grey. I used this for music and photos and now it is not working.

It is still showing the grey screen and question mark.

think I will need to send it to the Apple Service Centre. Thanks everyone for your help, nothing seem to work with mine. And now my Disk is inside and refuse to eject. Seem to have alot of problem with this macbook.

This is the 4 time it is giving me problem.

You can also try pressing and holind down the mouse/trackpad button as you turn on your computer.

Sorry you are having so many problems with your machine.

Did you manage to do any of the steps from the linked article?

I have the sensor change like a week when this macbook arrived, take a long time to start up. Then it was the ram failure and a couple months ago, powerplug failure and now this problem.

Anyone has any ideas where is the nearest Macbook Service Centre near Macquarie University?

I manage to get the disc out this morning and put it in agaion and did a testing. There is no error with the software and hardware.

I try to hardware or software problem but system still cannot boot up.

I cannot even repair harddisk as it is not writable, is it due to my password to login into system? Please advise.
