Apple's new model MacBooks and MacBook Pros are selling out, even as some analysts argue the prices are too high.

The Apple Blog reports Apple to be selling out of some models at at least four of its retail stores, including its store on Regent Street in London. Sell-outs are also claimed in Toronto's Eaton Center, San Francisco and the store in Manchester's Arndale Centre, UK.

"With flagship stores in three different countries already experiencing stock shortages, it’s clear that Apple’s new notebooks are being fairly well received by consumers, even if analysts are disappointed in the high price points of the new notebooks."

However, whether these steady sales will sustain themselves after the passing of pent-up demand for the new notebooks is a moot point. In the UK, for example, the new range of laptops is more expensive than the equivalent models that preceeded it by up to £150, with the MacBook Air (solid state) the only model to actually deliver a saving in comparison to those sold in the past.

Arguments that these price hikes equate to VAT or the cost of doing business in the UK or currency fluctuation may not satisfy all consumers.

Analsysts at ThinkPanmure and Endpoint Technologies are warning that the prices of the new range won't be low enough to boost sales.
