I am looking to buy a MB in the next couple months or so, don't need one right away. I read somewhere that MB's had the ability to read back to you a document that was opened in Microsoft Word or Pages. Does it actually do this? If so, how do I do it? And is there anyway to record the reading of the document and put it on my iPod or or iPhone? This would be very helpful with my studies. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks!

Hi!

Yes, Macbooks have the ability to read back documents or any text for that matter. To do this, select the text and press Command and T. To record the text reading, I would recommend to record either in Garageband or Audacity.

Hope that helps!

Re: Macbook Question

This might just be my customized shortcut. To set it, go to System Preferences, Speech and look for a button that says Set Key.That should let you set your shortcut for text to speech. Also, make sure that the text is highlighted.

You can have it speak things.

In Terminal (under Apps Folder > Utilities) just type "say _____" and hit enter. Wait a bit and the computer will speak whatever you typed after the word say.

but keep in mind you'll have to record it in realtime... so if you're doing a whole book, it might take a really long time.
