I'm trying to resist current Macbook Air fever that's going on, so like many people I'm wondering if it would be more beneficial to upgrade my Oct. 2009 Macbook - 8G RAM, SSD w/ Lion w/ a backup of my old stuff.

Or, in the long run, would I be better off selling it for around $400 on eBay and using my Amazon points (and zero tax) to buy the 11" Macbook Air at their current list of $950?

I regularly using my Macbook now for recording music (guitar) via Ableton/Line6 and Garageband as a hobby.

Thanks!

upgrade what you have

If it was me I would just upgrade what you have. Its going to save you money in the long run. I just upgraded the HDD to a Hybrid Hard Drive and i love it. I also upgraded the Ram to 6GB and this MacBook screams fast enough for me. I have the 500GB H-HDD 7200 rpm, which boots up much faster than it did with the regular HDD. I would just stick with what you have and leave the air for later. You will not be able to upgrade the MBA later as well. This is just my thoughts on the subject.
