MacBook ribbon cable?

Hi I have a problem with my mac keyboard where the letters are all muddled and was wondering whether this is a symptom of a faulty ribbon cable?

no i was using it in the morning and put it to sleep to go and have a shower and when i came back and opened it to use it again all the letters had confused themselves when i was typing my password. So and R would come up with a RY etc etc.
Really annoying but I dont want to have to shed out £40 on a new topcase for it so I was hoping if anyone knew whether it was a symptom of the ribbon cable as they are alot cheaper
