Something is seriously wrong with my MacBook 2.0 C2D.

Lately, the fans run at around 6000 rmp all the time.
I've checked Activity Monitor constantly and everything seems to be normal, i.e. there is not a printer file or anything like that making the fan run.

I also reset the PRAM and still no dice.

I am running Leopard and have maxed out the memory to 2.0GB. I have had this computer since August 2006.

Can someone please point me in the right direction?

How many widgets do you have running?

10

Have you tried installing SMC FanControl and manually changing the fan speed ?

I considered it but I am unsure of how safe this option is.

Can you offer me any insight?

Your screenshot shows "My Processes" but did you check All Processes?

Well right now everything is running pretty quietly.
However, when the runs were running...I was running the same programs I am now (i.e. Firefox, MS Word 08 and messengers)
