Macbook running leopard 2g ram sluggish

I have a macbook, which is about 15 month old. I updated to Leopard and all was running fine.

I had the memory upgraded to 2gb and this is working fine (well the system profiler says it is).

I have about 25g free on the harddrive, When I only have mail and safari open, it is sluggish and seems to lag.

As I am quite new to Macs I am not sure if there are any housekeeping things I could do to try and improve the speed etc.

I did consider doing a full format to the leopard and the re-install my apps. I keep my music on an external HD so music would be fine.

I would appreciate any advice, I have got extra warranty on the macbook so did wonder about booking a genius session.

Check with activity monitor which process is using the CPU (select all process at the top of the window and order them by CPU usage). What do you get?

All the figures are under 10. Safari is the highest one, even with Itunes running.

Am not sure what else to look at.
