MacBook Screen Freezes and Dissolves

The screen of my Macbook (late 2008, the first Alu series) sometimes freezes and dissolves (see attached pic). It lasts about 30 seconds and then it clears up like nothing happened.

This occurs a once or a couple of times a day.

Has anybody experienced the above and knows the reason (and possibly a solution) to this?

Running Mountain Lion? 2.0GHz C2D + Nvidia 9400M? If yes, its a common issue with ML, downgrading to Lion will fix the problem. If you're not on ML, then its probably the LVDS cable. Shut down your Mac, take out the battery, unscrew all the screws on the bottom and check the top right hand corner cable, unplug the cable and plug it back in and see if the problem is solved. If its not, try an external display. If the problem occur even on external display i would assume its the graphics card problem, otherwise, the LCD.
