I have a Macbook A1181 Core 2 Duo. When I boot the Macbook up the apple logo appears and the noise makes the chime sound but after a while the screen will go dark. It will appear again if I tap the keyboard a few times but go again? I had the problem last time where I could ajust the brightness and it would fix it, and I have recently replaced the inverter with a new one. Now when I start up the screen goes dark and the brightness buttons wont let me fix it. The display might come back on if I press a few keys but it goes again straight after. I have also checked the display settings and unchecked the right boxes but still nothing. Can anyone help please?

Seems like a loose display connector me, I think you need to open it and see if the connectors are all tightly fit.
Probably a shabby job last time the inverter was replaced.

ifixit.com has good guides on how to open yours.
